I was born in Greece and trained in Athens, before coming to London in the 70s where I worked and lived most of my career. I designed evening, cocktail and wedding dresses using exquisite silk, velvet, French lace and beaded embroidery.
I designed and produced 15 full scale catwalk shows at prestigious venues such as the The Park Lane Hotel, The Intercontinental and Claridges. Between 1983 and 1994 my designs were sold in “Christina Stambolian” boutiques in Paris and London.
I have helped charities by donating my own creations:
On June 29th 1994, Diana was due to attend a dinner hosted by Vanity Fair at the Serpentine Gallery. She purchased a dress from a designer called Valentino. Much to Diana’s displeasure and, in what has since been described as a display of crude opportunism, his house released a premature, unauthorised press statement about the dress. Diana immediately changed her mind and decided to wear one of her most important dresses – The “Revenge Dress” designed by Christina Stambolian.
